The Brewery Quarter's Summer Jam warms crowds ready for Lakefest

The Brewery Quarter's annual Summer Jam returned from a two-year break with a bang last weekend in Cheltenham, with a three-day festival full of musical talent.

This year's festival, Summer Jam: The Lakefest warmup was in association with the region's largest family friendly festival Lakefest, which takes place at Eastnor Castle from August 11-14.

Acts included some of Lakefest's finest local talent, including Winchcombe-born band Erica, Celtic folk band Roving Crows, Alex Lipinski (a favourite of Liam Gallagher's) along with Brewery Quarter regulars the Mark Walby band and Camilla Lewington.

The festival also welcomed magician and comic ventriloquist Colin Dymond, who kept the kids entertained between sets, along with a large art canvas from the Cheltenham Paint Festival for children to add to a community work of art. Around the corner on Henrietta St, street artist Phil Blake, aka Philth added the latest mural to the venue, a large floral piece in a William Morris style.

Demelsa Coleman, Marketing Manager of The Brewery Quarter said: "Summer Jam this year was by far the best we've had yet. It was so good to be able to team up with Lakefest to get some high-quality acts in, who are usually more accustomed to playing on a bigger stage."

"The crowds - especially on Saturday - were huge and all our venues were delighted to be even busier than usual. The place was absolutely buzzing - we saw nearly 60 thousand visitors over the three-day event."

Lee Martin, founder of Lakefest said:  "it was great to have the opportunity to give Brewery Quarter visitors a small taste of what to expect at our festival - taking place just 30 minutes up the road next weekend.

"As a family friendly festival, we are the perfect destination for a fun summer holiday weekend treat. There are some great headline acts, loads of free kids' activities and performers, wrestling, BMX displays and a spectacular Red Devil display - plus so much more."
