Saint Cecilia Singers' Christmas concert in Tetbury

The Saint Cecilia Singers are moving to St Mary's Church, Tetbury, for their annual Christmas concert - Nowell Sing We - on Saturday, December 16, at 7pm.

Centred around Poulenc's stunning Quatre motets pour le temps de Noel, the concert features music by Byrd and Praetorius as well as Cecilia McDowall, Francis Pott, Gabriel Jackson and works by two of the choir's own members, Charlotte Baskerville and William Armiger.

The Saint Cecilia Singers is the chamber choir of Gloucester Cathedral, conducted by the Cathedral's assistant director of music, Jonathan Hope.

Jonathan said: "We are very lucky to have two talented composers within our ranks. I am particularly looking forward to performing the pieces by Charlotte and William amongst a programme full of wonderful gems that the choir are really enjoying learning.

"We are delighted to be in Tetbury this year, with the combination of beautiful Christmas music, audience carols and mulled wine guaranteed to send our audience home full of seasonal cheer."

The Saint Cecilia Singers is an auditioned choir of 28 enthusiastic and gifted amateur and semi-professional singers. It performs up to six concerts per year including an annual Christmas concert at Gloucester Cathedral as well as taking part in the Cathedral Choirs Days and occasional Evensongs.

The concert will be followed by a complimentary glass of mulled wine.

Tickets are £15 in advance, £17 on the door, free for students and under 16s and available online from saintceciliasingers.org
