Mitcheldean Festival - party time soon!

Plans are hotting up for Mitcheldean's annual summer party from Friday, July 15th to Sunday, July 17th.

Events kick off with a concert in Mitcheldean Parish Church on Friday evening, headlined by the ever-popular Dick Brice. Music lovers can also make their way to The Lamb for a music and song session.

Also in the church, Saturday's concert is headlined by Festival friends 'Mice in a Matchbox' whose crowd-pleasing music is not to be missed. The five-hour concert will also showcase local talent, including Tracey Dixon & friends in their new group 'The Long View'.

Earlier on Saturday new young writing talent will be congratulated as they receive well-earned prizes for the Young Poets and Storytellers Competition and the winner of this year's John Livesey Cup will be announced.

Then it will be over to the playing field for Mitcheldean Village Fete, where outdoor entertainment includes the inaugural tug-of-war match between the White Horse and the Lamb Inn!

The fun continues on the Sunday afternoon with a folk walk, a music session in The White Horse, and a comedy afternoon in the Jolter Press showcasing stand-up stars like Col Howarth and Joanna Surowiec, hosted by the incomparable Darren Hoskins.

MItcheldean Festival is organised by a small group of volunteers, working with Mitcheldean Parish Council, the parish church, Mitcheldean Folk Club, Forest Gate Church, the W.I. and other local organisations including the Bespoke Brewery, the White Horse and Lamb pubs and the Jolter Press.

After two years' online, this is the ninth year of a combined fete, poetry, storytelling, music, dance, food and drink festival, the only one of its kind in the Forest of Dean
