Male voice choir with a modern twist
By David Wood | 22nd October 2021
A male voice choir from Wales will be taking to the stage in Cheltenham next week for a charity performance in aid of Cobalt.
Bois Goetre-Hen Male Voice Choir will be singing at Francis Close Hall Chapel, Campus, University of Gloucestershire, Swindon Road, Cheltenham on Friday, October 29, from 7pm until 8.30pm.
Established in August 2009, the choir has 60 choristers ranging from 29 to 75 years of age. They have previously performed twice in the Royal Albert Hall. This will be their first public performance since February 2020.
This is not your usual male voice choir - they have a modern spin alongside the more traditional songs. The line-up includes an eclectic mix of songs including traditional favourites such as Gwahoddiad and Rachie (Bob Yn Sydd Fyddlon) and modern artists including Snow Patrol, Lady Gaga, Crowded House and Radiohead, Sia, Sting and John Lennon.
Tickets cost £10 or £5 with a NUS card and can be bought here or you can turn up on the door on the evening.
A Cobalt spokeswoman said: "All proceeds from the performance will go to Cobalt which obviously in the light of us not having been able to run events as usual this year, every little helps."
