Local makers market at The Folk of Gloucester

Gloucester Civic Trust is bringing a festive feel to the Folk of Gloucester this Saturday (December 2).

To celebrate the start of the Christmas rush, local makers have been invited to come and display their amazing craft work from 10am to 4pm.

  • Boop Yarns is bringing fantastic, limited-edition home-dyed wool
  • Lesley Andrew is bringing fantastic gifts made from old stamps.
  • Ritchie and his sister are bringing cute crochet figures.
  • Jim Rowley is a local craftsman who produces walking staffs, hair clips and leather products from local sources.
  • Plus, lots more will be available to talk about their amazing craftwork.

Marc Waters, event organiser at the Folk of Gloucester, said: "Buying a unique gift from a local maker at this time of year helps the local makers. By making it a fantastic atmosphere with carols, Mummer's plays and festive delights, we hope to make it fun for all the family.

"It's not just a market but is becoming a local tradition with a special visit from Father Christmas to start the Christmas joy."

For history lovers, there will be a special talk given by Dr Fran Wilson-Copp on The History Behind Christmas Cards. Tickets, costing £5, are available here

There will also be carols from the Gloucester Choral Society, The Gloucester Folk Choir and a performance of the Gloucester Mummers play there is so much to see and do on the day.

The café will be offering wintry treats, and the bar will have mulled cider so don't miss out on the perfect way to relax and enjoy Christmas shopping!

So please come along and help bring the Folk to life at this time of year.
