Journey into the woods at Cheltenham gallery

Spring Cheltenham is happy to invite visitors to its beautiful new curated show 'Into the Woods' which celebrates the majestic beauty and intricacy of woods and our relationship with them.

The show brings together the work of 14 artists from across the UK, and includes paintings, charcoals, ceramics, wood sculpture, etchings, marquetry and even paper, plant and silk fibre sculptures.

There is something about woods that affects the human soul with a startling, yet pleasant, ease and swiftness. For some it is the aura of mystery and enchantment that often shrouds them. Perhaps it is the deep silence that suffuses the boughs and branches of the trees, promising peace, and solitude to overburdened minds.

Or for others it might be the simple respect for something ancient, full of forgotten lore, history, and wisdom.

But no matter the reason they are close to the human soul, there is no doubting our affinity with the woods and forests, and therefore our duty to look after and celebrate them.

'Into the Woods' runs at Spring Cheltenham at Rotunda Terrace, Montpellier Street, until March 12th, 10am - 5pm, Tuesday- Saturday.
