Inspiring families invited to 'Our Place' coffee mornings

Families are being invited to come along to Inspiring Families 'Our Place' coffee mornings at various locations across Cheltenham starting in November.

The sessions have a focus on family well-being and offer parents and carers the opportunity to meet new people in their community, and have fun and relax in a place where they can share experiences and support one another.

The groups also offer more consistent one-to-one support for those that need it by connecting families with information, people and resources to help them with their specific needs.

The first coffee morning at Springbank Community Café (Ron Smith Pavilion) takes place on Friday 5 November from 9:30am to 11am. A group will also run at St Paul's Community Hub on Thursdays, 9:30am to 11am, starting on 18 November.

There is a free hot drink and cake for each person. Children are welcome and there will be some activities for children.

Louis Wilson, Inspiring Families project officer, said: "We hope that our families will come along to relax and have fun, whilst finding new ways to improve their mental and physical well-being.

"Life can be hard, and family life can be tough, and we hope that these mornings will be a simple way to help families spend some time together, meet new people and feel supported in achieving a positive, healthy lifestyle."

Families will be able to give feedback about any information, training or activities they might like to access through the Inspiring Families 'Our Place' project by getting in touch with the project officer (details below).

Cllr Flo Clucas, cabinet member for community and safety, added: "This is a great opportunity for families to take some time together to get away from the worries of daily life. I hope that these coffee mornings will be a great success."

Caroline Walker, head of community service at Cheltenham Borough Homes, said: "We're delighted to support the fantastic Inspiring Families 'Our Place' coffee mornings. They are a great opportunity for people to come together to support each other and to share experiences.

"Listening to the people in our neighbourhoods is so important and helps us ensure we are delivering the support they need to provide strong, resilient communities where everyone feels safe and secure."

Inspiring Families will be working in partnership with Adult Education Gloucestershire and Art Shape at Springbank Community Café and St Paul's Community Hub to deliver a range of craft activities through our groups leading up to Christmas.

"This will provide families with new crafting ideas that they can carry out together at home as a fun and relaxing mindfulness activity. Everyone is encouraged to come and get involved.
