Head to Westonbirt Arboretum for summer fun

With the summer holidays approaching, make the most of the great outdoors at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum.

The arboretum offers a wide range of great activities for the family to enjoy and most of them are free!

Here are just a few of the family-friendly activities happening this summer:

Arboretum Apprentice Experience: From 30 July until 25 August a range of free, bookable workshops are taking place to introduce children aged 7+ and their families to the variety of exciting careers at Westonbirt Arboretum; from tree climbing to caring for wildlife.

Wild Wonder at Westonbirt: Young bookworms will love this brand-new children's book festival, dedicated to nature, animals, and the outdoors taking place 27 to 29 August. Featuring some of the UK's most famous children's book authors, illustrators, wildlife presenters and storytellers, such as Michael Morpurgo, Dara McAnulty and Jess French. Along with meeting their favourite authors and illustrators, children can take part in a whole host of exciting activities linked to stories set in and around nature.

Enjoy the Superworm activity trail: Set off on a forest adventure this summer and enjoy the activity trail based on Julia Donaldson's much-loved book, Superworm. With lots of fun activities to complete, the trail will encourage children to become superheroes of the forest themselves.

Martyn Reeves, event manager at Westonbirt Arboretum, said: "There are plenty of exciting and new things for families to do at Westonbirt Arboretum this summer. Our activities are a fantastic way of encouraging young people to enjoy and learn about trees and nature's wonders.

"Whether you're visiting to meet your favourite author at 'Wild Wonder of Westonbirt', our brand-new children's book festival, or to explore the Superworm trail, there is so much to get involved with."

With play areas, activity trails and more, Westonbirt Arboretum offers a fantastic family day out.
