Giffords Circus gearing up for new season

There's just seven weeks to go until Giffords Circus's new show ¡Carpa!

The Mexican-themed show opens on April 14th and things are starting to get very busy at Giffords Circus HQ. ¡Carpa! director Cal McCrystal can't wait for rehearsals to begin.

The tent will soon be put at Fennells Farm, Stroud, once these storms pass, of course! The living wagons are currently being refurbished by handyman Steve Peach and local craftsman Jerome Ellis, before being hand-painted by Stroud based painter James Partridge.

The sets are being constructed by Cotswolds-based Pyrite Creative who are realising takis's amazing production designs and creating the most beautiful Mexican set.

In March the costume makers will arrive, and the wardrobe is filled with the sound of sewing machines whirring, bright coloured costumes being tried on and adjustments made under takis's watchful eye.

In the art studio, head of art Joe Avery is busy creating the programme to accompany the tour.

Between April and October, Giffords Circus visits 14 grounds between the Cotswolds and London, moving every week or two weeks.

As well as its base at Fennells Farm, locations include Daylesford Organic at Kingham, Sudeley Castle, Frampton Court Estate, Frampton on Severn, Minchinhampton Common and Stratton Meadows, Cirencester.
