Flowers Band set for Christmas celebration
By David Wood | 15th December 2021
There's a pre-Christmas treat at Cheltenham's Bacon Theatre on Sunday afternoon at 3pm which is guaranteed to give you that festive feeling.
Join the Flowers Band and their guests the Beauregard Youth Choir as they return to the theatre for their annual Christmas celebration of seasonal favourites, Christmas film music and carols for all.
Flowers Band, based in Gloucester Academy of Music, was formed in 1968 as a result of the disbandment of the Royal Gloucester Hussars (Territorial Army) Brass Band.
After negotiation with the Ministry of Defence, the instruments were purchased and most of the former R.G.H. bandsmen, together with other local players, formed the City of Gloucester Band.
Sponsored by the Flowers brewery until 1998, the band kept the name and has continued to flourish at all major contests, ranking number one in the West of England and, at time of going to press, 7th in the world.
Under the baton of Paul Holland, Flowers have achieved victories at the Grand Shield, French Open, five victories at Butlins Mineworkers Championships, a hat-trick of wins at Yeovil, seven Area titles as well as their highest ever results at the National Championships, British Open and Brass in Concert Championships.
Tickets are £14.00 (£10.00) and available at https://bacontheatre.ticketsolve.com/shows/873618203
