There's nothing quite like an invigorating winter walk.

In the frosty air, rosy cheeks and a rush of endorphins give us a wonderfully heightened sense of wellbeing, enhanced even more by beautiful winter views.

Wrap up warm and head to Westonbirt, The National Arboretum for a bracing walk in the next few weeks, whilst also discovering nature's hidden winter wonders.

How about following a playful trail to find out about the many animals and plants that make the arboretum their home during winter? The whole family can enjoy a treasure hunt whilst exploring the 'Hidden Westonbirt' trail through Silk Wood.

During half-term, February 13 to 15, children and families can also roll their sleeves up and take part in 'Hidden Westonbirt' fun-filled activities that include making smelly winter potions, creating nature-inspired crafts to take home and using microscopes to examine winter plants up close!

Ellen Whitby, learning assistant at Westonbirt, said: "We are excited to introduce our winter family treasure-hunt trail, designed to encourage everyone to notice nature's hidden wonders. By exploring our woodland, everyone can learn intriguing facts about the many plants and animals living here at Westonbirt. Don't forget to stop and listen too!"

Look who is coming back from February 10: Westonbirt is excited to mark the 25th anniversary of the award-winning picture book, "The Gruffalo" by opening a new trail experience. The Gruffalo's birthday trail is all set to be a big party in the arboretum! As part of the adventure, families will be encouraged to work together to search for missing party items whilst enjoying fun and games along the trail.

Don't forget that Westonbirt's volunteer guides are also on hand at 11am daily to welcome you on their popular guided walks to discover more of the arboretum's hidden highlights.

Or simply take time out for you by exploring the Wellbeing trail in Silk Wood. Spending time amongst the trees and really noticing nature is scientifically proven to boost our mental and physical health. This mindful walk through the arboretum invites you to really relax.
