Dance till you drop at Ceilidh and disco

Get your dancing shoes on for a proper swing around the dance floor at a Ceilidh dance and disco next month.

The Hilltop Ceilidh Band will be leading the Ceilidh at Tewkesbury's Watson Hall on Saturday, 6 November, from 6.30pm followed by a disco till 11.30pm.

The Hilltop Ceilidh Band have been calling the steps and ringing the changes on the UK scene long enough to earn a substantial following. They specialise in bringing traditional barn dances to events up and down the country with a fun, energetic style for you to enjoy whatever the occasion.

The combination of smooth folk instruments such as fiddle and accordion with bass and drums creates a pioneering folk/rock sound.

What is a ceilidh anyway? At its root, the word simply means 'a social visit'. Over time it's evolved to refer to a social event, where people gather to listen to traditional Scottish, Irish and English dance tunes and take part in traditional dancing.

It's been happening for centuries. The really special thing about ceilidh dancing though, is how fun and embracive it is.

Ceilidhs are always inclusive; anyone can join in and the caller will encourage everyone. The steps can be as simple or as complex as you're game for. Although you start most dances partnered up, the very nature of a ceilidh means that everyone ends up dancing with each other at some point. No experience is necessary!

You will be under the watchful eye of the professional caller who'll be with you every step of the way - walking you through the moves before each dance and continuing to call out helpful hints throughout the rest of the dances.

The Ceilidh is followed by a disco, playing some of your favourite dance floor tunes.

Tickets are £12 per person and available HERE
