Charity runners gearing up for Gloucester 10K

Fifteen brave runners are taking on the challenge of running the Gloucester 10K on Sunday, June 25, to raise funds for Read With Me.

The 'Team 10K' is made up of volunteers, employees and a handful of obliging partners!

Comprising a mixture of abilities - from seasoned runners to complete novices (including a recent hip replacement), the Team 10K hope to make it round the course in any fashion they can.

Uniting the team is a cause that every member is passionate about: ensuring every child in Gloucestershire can read well before they reach secondary school. Currently 200,000 children leave primary school every year unable to read, this means they are unable to take a full part in education.

Read With Me aims to remedy this by providing volunteers in schools to hear children read, one to one. This not only improves children's literacy and social skills, but also their confidence. However, they need your support to offer their service to even more children as demand grows across the county.

If you would like to support Read With Me and help ensure the children of Gloucestershire reach their full potential by learning to read well, then please sponsor the Team 10K in their endeavour to improve children's literacy.

You can find a link to the Just Giving page via Facebook (Readwithme2020). Alternatively, you can visit the Just Giving website and search for 'Linda Cohen' to donate - every penny helps to reach their goal.

Linda Cohen, founder of Read With Me, said: "We're united in our shared and non-negotiable goal which is to ensure that every child in Gloucestershire can read well before they go to secondary school."
