By David Wood | 26th January 2022
There's just four days until the Battle of the Balls - a Legends charity football match between Gloucester City Legends and Rugby For Heroes.
The match is set to take place at New Meadow Park, Gloucester, on Sunday (January 30) with a 2pm kick-off.
The Rugby for Heroes team of ex-professional rugby players will be captained by England World Cup winner Mike Tindall MBE.
For Gloucester City AFC this is a great opportunity to honour important players to the history of the club and the Legends team will be led out by record appearance holder Tom Webb.
Gates open at 12.30pm and there will be music, food and drink prior to pre-match interviews at 1pm.
The game kicks off at 2pm and there will be half-time interviews at 2.45pm with man of the match presentation around 3.45pm.
After more music, food and drink, there will be an auction at 4.45pm.
Gloucester City manager Lee Mansell said: "It's a fantastic game for us to host at New Meadow Park as we welcome back some of the heroes from years gone by to represent us again against the Rugby For Heroes team. It promises to be a fun day for all the Gloucester family to enjoy."
Mike Tindall MBE, patron of Rugby For Heroes, said: "We are excited to take on this new challenge in facing a Gloucester City Legends team in a competitive game of football to show off our 'silky skills'.
"We are glad that the two sports can come together with the local community to create an amazing event whilst raising funds for a great cause."
Other players in the Rugby for Heroes squad include Delon Armitage (Toulon RFC), Julian Salvi (Exeter RFC), Jonny Goodridge (Gloucester RFC), Ryan Lamb (Gloucester RFC), Jordan Crane (Bristol Bears RFC), Rob Hawkins (Leicester Tigers RFC) and James Hook (Gloucester RFC).
