Thanks to the huge success of the 2021 Broadway Arts Festival, a record number of local arts students have been awarded substantial financial help in the form of bursaries to help them in their studies.

These annual bursaries are given to full-time students studying Fine Art, Applied Arts, Music or the Performing Arts.

They are awarded to help students with expenses and finance opportunities relating to their chosen field of study. Priority is given to applicants who live in the parish of Broadway or WR12 postcode, but applications are considered from neighbouring areas too.

A 300% increase in the monies available for arts bursaries has been made possible thanks to the huge success of the Broadway Arts Festival, and the support of the festival benefactors and sponsors.

The bursaries were awarded to students on a wide range of courses including Music, Film & TV, Fashion & Textile Design, Theatre, Fine Arts, Interior Architecture, Vocal Performance, Songwriting, Illustration and Sound Production.

Steven Nichols from Chipping Campden, who is studying Jazz Trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music in London, said: "I am so grateful for this funding and plan to use it to record an EP to promote and develop my career."

Amy Keep from Childswickham, who is studying Fashion Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University, said: "I am very passionate about developing my knowledge on how the fashion industry can be more sustainable. The bursary will help me buy equipment and I also plan on attending some workshops outside my degree to develop and widen my skill set."

Rose Johnson from Sedgeberrow, who is studying Vocal Performance at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, said: "A Soprano, my aim is to become an artist that performs operatic roles with large opera companies. The bursary will be put directly towards paying my fees and going to as many live performances as I can!"

The Broadway Arts Festival is a celebration of the village's unique artistic heritage and aims to maintain and develop Broadway's artistic heritage as an established venue for artistic excellence. The student arts bursaries and schools outreach programme play a pivotal role in this.
