The Saint Cecilia Singers celebrate two milestone birthdays in British choral music

The Saint Cecilia Singers, Gloucester Cathedral's chamber choir, return to St Mary's Church, Tetbury, on Saturday, November 1, with a concert marking two milestone birthdays in British choral music: John Rutter at 80 and Bob Chilcott at 70.

The programme features Rutter's much-loved Requiem and his radiant Hymn to the Creator of Light, alongside Chilcott's Song of Harvest, a joyful work that invites the audience to sing well-known hymns with the choir.

Jonathan Hope, artistic director of the Saint Cecilia Singers, said: "This concert is both a tribute and a celebration. We'll celebrate the music of John Rutter at 80 and Bob Chilcott at 70 with pieces full of remembrance and thanksgiving, and we're inviting our audience to add their voices to the occasion."

Tickets at £15 (£17 on the door) are available from the Saint Cecilia Singers website.

Admission is free for under-16s and full-time students.

The Saint Cecilia Singers is an auditioned choir of around 30 enthusiastic and gifted amateur and semi-professional singers. It performs up to six concerts per year including an annual Christmas concert at Gloucester Cathedral as well as supporting the musical life of the cathedral by singing at special services, fundraising events and occasional Evensongs when the cathedral choir is absent.
