Where: Café René, Southgate Street, Gloucester
When: Sunday, August 25, 1pm till late
The flavour of the Notting Hill Carnival will be coming to a Gloucester pub once again this Sunday (August 25).
Café René in Southgate Street will be cooking up a carnival atmosphere at its Southgate Street with Carnival music and food on offer throughout the day.
Kieran Bates, of Café René, explained that 'Nott the Notting Hill Carnival' had been going for a number of years and was one of Café René's biggest annual events.
He said: "The reason it started was because many years ago various of members of staff wanted to go to the carnival at Notting Hill but because we are a business we had to get people to stay here."
So the spirit of the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival will come to Gloucester on Sunday with DJs playing Carnival music outside from 2pm and then moving inside during the evening.
The pub will be serving a selection of Caribbean food, including jerk chicken, along with a BBQ, and drinkers will be able to enjoy a tipple from the Rum Shack.
"It's a full carnival theme," added Kieran.
The event kicks off at 1pm and runs until late in the evening.
