Pioneering 'artists at work' event in Lechlade

Where: The Pavilion, Oak Street, Lechlade GL7 3AY

When: Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22, 10am-5pm

A group of a dozen artists from Lechlade Art Society (LAS) are taking part in an open studios event in the town later this month.

There's a chance to see the artists at work at The Pavilion in Lechlade at the event which is an 'outreach' from Swindon Open Studios.

Sharon Ellis, LAS chairman who is one of the artists involved, said: "We are a group of 12 LAS member artists with a wide variety of skills and styles in many mediums and subject matters.

"Although we are some way from the centre of Swindon, we can offer a good reason for travelling to Lechlade.

"Apart from being based in a really attractive and picturesque town by the River Thames, we feel that having a dozen practising artists all under one roof in a modern venue which offers free parking and available refreshments, will make the trip really worthwhile.

"We will be actively painting etc whilst the visitor has not only a chance to see the artists at work, but wander around the works on display.

"The artists will be on hand to answer any questions or give advice and, of course, there will also an opportunity to buy original work."

Brian Britton, another exhibiting artist who is helping to organise the event, said: "We are doing the one weekend as a bit of an experiment.

"People can make a day out of it in Lechlade with a walk along the river and there's a great children's playground."

The Artists at Work event takes place at The Pavilion over the weekend of September 21-22 from 10am to 5pm.
