Phoenix Festival celebrates fifth anniversary

Where: Abbey Grounds, Cirencester

When: August 26 and 27, 2017

Free music festival The Phoenix is five years old this year and the Cirencester Community Trust is throwing a party to celebrate.

In August The Phoenix Festival gets under way for two days of music, dance and family fun with two stages, an open mic platform, performers' arena, children's entertainment, stalls and festival food and drink.

The festival is held within the beautiful historic setting of the Abbey Grounds in Cirencester where it attracts thousands of people over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

It is completely organised by volunteers and is the brainchild of Ozone Youth Club. It also has the support and guidance from the Cirencester Community Development Trust and the Town Council.

The event continues to provide a unique opportunity to see a diverse range of local artists and performers and offers businesses and the community the chance to be involved in an exciting and engaging local music event.

Acts confirmed for this year include Madness tribute The Los Palmas 6 and Bowie tribute David Live

Shirley Alexander, Cirencester Community Trust chair, says: "Five years is an incredible achievement and we want to say a big thanks to festival organiser Glen Moreman and all those who put time and effort into producing something that Cirencester can be so proud of.

"To keep the festival going we have to look to investment, to keep it free. The businesses of the town have been extremely generous in the past and we want to say thank you to them also."
