Painswick extends festive goodwill to all

Where: Painswick

When: Friday, November 30, 5pm-8pm

The village of Painswick has released further details about its annual Goodwill Evening, which takes place on Friday, November 30.

The theme of this year's event is 'Extending Goodwill to All' and aims to bring out the true 'goodwill' spirit of Christmas.

Maps will be available from 5pm on the night from The Painswick Centre, the Town Hall and St Mary's Church. This year the maps are free in return for a foodbank donation.

As well as highlighting where the attractions are, the maps will also show children where they can collect stickers from - once 8 stickers have been collected the map can be entered into a big prize draw!

At 6pm Father Christmas will make an appearance in St Mary's Churchyard, and he will lead a beautiful lantern parade performed by local schoolchildren, through the churchyard and towards the Painswick Centre.

Once there, Father Christmas will take up residence in his vintage caravan grotto and children can tell him or bring a list of what they are wishing for this Christmas. Children will receive a small treat in return, but this year we would like children to BRING a present for Father Christmas. These will be given to the Salvation Army in Stroud and passed on to families and children who would not otherwise get presents. We would ask that presents are new and unwrapped, not books, and are for any child up to the age of 18.

The Painswick Goodwill Evening will be a beautiful evening of festive cheer for all the family, with Christmas lights, locally made hot food, children's games, craft stalls, music, singing from both the St Mary's Church Choir and the Painswick Community Choir at various times throughout the evening.

There will also be a very special appearance from the Christmas alpacas (as the reindeers are busy resting before they are needed on Christmas Eve).

This year's event is generously sponsored by ProcessMaker.
