Minchinhampton Country Fayre is back with a bang

Where: Minchinhampton, near Stroud, Gloucestershire

When: Saturday, September 14, 12 noon to 4.30pm

Oyez! Oyez! Minchinhampton's much-loved country fayre is back tomorrow (Saturday, September 14) and celebrating its 750th anniversary year!

This beautiful Cotswold town, surrounded by hundreds of acres of common land, will be turning its centre into a fun-filled fayre from 12 noon to 4.30pm, raising thousands of pounds for local good causes at the same time.

Entertainment and attractions - which stretch onto the school playing fields - include a vintage car show, live music, Punch and Judy, pony rides, a dog show, glider simulator, circus skills workshop, dancing, stalls, hog roast and veggie falafels.

And Holy Trinity Flower Guild is holding a Festival of Wedding Dresses and Flowers Through the Ages at the church (continuing through Sunday).

Minchinhampton Gardening Club is running its much-loved annual show in the school hall from 11am. And the Cotswold Club in the High Street is also joining in the fun with a family day and music in the evening.

From 7.30pm, the Market House will host a pop-up pub, with entertainment by local musician Richard Dinning.

Organiser Lou Buckley said, "The word 'fayre' originally meant 'market' so Minchinhampton is marking 750 years of being a significant trading town - a real reason to celebrate!

"The country fayre has established such a reputation for a fantastic afternoon out, attracting hundreds of people from all over the area and beyond. It's a great way of having fun, raising money for charity, and showing people what a wonderful town this is."

The fayre weekend will be marked by a service of thanksgiving at 5.30pm in Holy Trinity on Sunday, September 15.

Extra Saturday parking will be available on the Great Park (the common), and at Longfield Hospice in Burleigh Lane.
