Two friends and fellow artists who paint together each week in a garden studio near Tewkesbury are holding an exhibition of their work this weekend.
Jane Ware and Sarah Jemmett are holding an Open Studios exhibition in Sarah's garden studio from Friday, October 18, to Monday, October 21, daily from 10am to 6pm.
Jane and Sarah met and became close friends after being introduced at the Kemerton WI and found a common interest - art, in particular painting. They regularly visit museums and galleries together to gain inspiration and appreciate art.
They are passionate painters and supporters of local art and sculpture exhibitions, and welcome all new opportunities to display their artwork in public exhibition spaces, offering affordable art for all.
Jane started her art education at the age of three at Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School in Stourbridge which instilled in her a love and enthusiasm for all things creative.
Her interests are many and diverse but centre around art, music, literature and travel. Jane's paintings are inspired by Cotswold landmarks, jazz culture, café conversations and memories from seagulls in St Ives to sunsets in South Africa.
Her paintings are mainly in watercolour and
ink but she enjoys experimenting with colourful acrylics and developing New York cityscapes from sketching with her daughter in Manhattan.
Sarah has been painting since she was 10 years old and comes from a creative family. Her work explores many strands but her main interest is painting plein air and she's just returned from taking part in "Art in the Open" (the largest and most prestigious plein air painting festival in Europe), held this year over 10 days covering County Wexford, Kilkenny and Waterford, with 200 artists taking part.
You will often see her out and about with her easel and paints, being keen to capture colour and light in its natural environment.
