University student owns his own circus

A student from the Cotswolds will be opening his own circus in Stroud this summer.

Harvey Aylmer, aged 21, is bringing Aylmers Circus to the The Cotswold Playhouse from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28.

Aylmers Circus invites you into a kingdom, where international acrobats come alive. Accompanied by a contortionist, hand balancer, and cyr wheel artist, just to name a few. Inspired by fairy tales, theatrical romance, and elegance, you'll be taken through the story of a man who dreams of becoming a clown, when he stumbles upon a letter from a forgotten ballerina - the perfect story for a dreamer!

Harvey said: "As a child, I always had the ambition to produce my own circus and at the age of 10, I turned my garden into one while raising money for Cancer Research.

"I left school at 16 and ran away with Giffords Circus. Nell Gifford took me under her wing, and I was their first apprentice where I undertook two apprenticeships studying business administration and events management, alongside assisting the award-winning director Cal McCrystal.

"Aylmers Circus is a theatrical circus company which performs stories with a musical twist. We honour childhood, as well as the art of believing in magic by turning the precious memories of life from information back to imagination.

"We want our circus to allow you to forget about the troubles of the world and become children again. Creating a world where anything is possible."

Harvey left Giffords Circus in 2022 and joined Bath Spa University where he is currently studying theatre production.
