Tewkesbury Battlefield Society Conference to finally go ahead

Tewkesbury Battlefield Society Conference, in association with the Battlefields Trust, takes place on Saturday, May 4.

After being forced to delay from 2021 by a combination of the pandemic restrictions and a clash with the date of His Majesty's Coronation, the conference is finally taking place, falling on the 553rd anniversary of the battle.

The conference will take place in the Watson Hall in Barton Street in the heart of the town between 9.30am and 4.30pm and will be followed by a guided battlefield tour on the Sunday for all those wishing to stay over.

The theme of the conference will be 'Presenting, Preserving and Researching Battlefields - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow', with a variety of interesting speakers.

Among the speakers is Graham Turner, author of 'The Wars of the Roses: The Medieval Art of Graham Turner', anew study containing a detailed history of the wars alongside a unique and comprehensive collection of over 120 of Graham's paintings and drawings, many created especially for this book.

Other expert speakers include Glenn Foard who will speak on Battlefield archeology and Simon Marsh who will talk about Battlefield resources and threats.

Tickets for the Saturday event are available at £15, and the Sunday walk, including transport to Tredington and tea and coffee midway, will cost a further £15.
