Charity Fashion Walk in aid of Mind UK

A Charity Fashion Walk is being held in Gloucester tomorrow (Saturday) to raise money for Mind UK.

Walk With Me 2024 is the third such event being organised by a group of local women.

The event takes place at Gloucester Irish Club, Horton Road, Gloucester, from 5pm to 10pm.

Charity Fashion Walk, which started in November 2022, is a social event to help raise money for charity. The aim is to bring communities together through fun, interest and entertainment. This organisation is non profit. Photographers and designers are invited along, with models of any shape, size and any experience.

Charity Fashion Walk is being presented by Jay Thomas and Lela Thomas of TheFForum who are part of the management team.

They said: "Our unique fashion show is designed to illuminate the diverse experiences of mental health, showcasing its complexities through the lens of style, embracing both its challenges and triumphs.

"Our mission is to foster confidence, spread positivity and remind everyone that brighter days are within reach, and everyone's support can help us provide vital resources to make this vision a reality."

Event planner Darby Hudson said: "I started Charity Fashion Walk to start making a change and to help people. The events I plan are to help others but to make a difference in people's lives, who could be the models. I can help them to gain their confidence. I like to style clothes, help others with hair and make-up with the events I host, do the music, plan the events and I model for the event. This is a passion of mine I started from scratch."

SJ Carmelita, who is part of the management team for Mind UK, said: "I am honoured to be a part of such a great event. The amount of work and planning that Darby has put into this over the months is incredible. She has worked tirelessly day and night and it's been great to be a part of the team supporting her.

"The charity Mind UK and awareness this event is supporting is so important. I'm a strong mental health advocate and work in the field. I have suffered my own mental health struggles as many of us the team have or have watched someone we love struggle. That's why it makes it even more important for us to make this a success."

The event starts at 5pm with children's fashions being showcased first. The adults will then have their chance to take to the catwalk and the event is expected to finish around 10pm.

Tickets are £5 on the door.
