Where: Dean Forest Railway
When: Saturday, September 22, 2.30pm
The chairman of Forest of Dean District Council, Councillor Marrilyn Smart OBE, is inviting the public to join her for a charity cream tea event on the Dean Forest Railway on Saturday, September 22, at 2.30pm.
All funds raised will support her chosen charity - Forest Mental Health Carers Support Group - which offers much-needed support for those who care for local residents with a wide range of mental health conditions.
Cllr Smart is looking forward to the event and said: "Early autumn is a fabulous time to take a scenic trip on the Dean Forest Railway and enjoy a delicious traditional cream tea.
"I thought that this would be a fun way to raise money for my chosen charity and I very much hope that we get a good turnout to give the local Mental Health Carers Support Group a much-needed funding boost."
Tickets for the event are £20 per person (which includes the cream tea). Tickets will be limited so it is advisable to book early by contacting Becky Hurcombe on 01594 812607.
Councillor Smart is planning further fundraising activities to support the charity, including a Christmas Carol Concert and a formal dinner.
