Brothers to battle it out in The Great Bourton Bake Off

Where: Bourton Vale Cricket Club, Rissington Road, Bourton-on-the-Water

When: Sunday, November 25, from 12 noon

A special event is taking part in Bourton-on-the-Water this Sunday as two cricketing brothers take part in the Great Bourton Bake Off to raise funds for a charity in memory of their mother.

Jack Galpin and Max Shepherd have spent a year carrying out 45 challenges in a bid to raise £5,000 for the Epilepsy Society. Their mother, Sarah Davies, who died three years ago and would have been 45 this year, suffered from epilepsy.

The Bake Off kicks off at Bourton Vale Cricket Club's fabulous new pavilion at 12 noon and everyone is welcome to come along for high tea and support the brothers who will be joined by Jack's fiancée Destiny, who will also be taking part in the contest.

Jack, Destiny and Max will battle it out with a technical challenge and a showstopper for the ultimate challenge of Bourton Vale's Star Baker 2018.

The bar will be open, there will be a children's cupcake decorating table, and people are encouraged to enter the 'Bring your own Bake' to be judged and win a prize.

Individually and as a pair, the brothers have carried out a whole range of challenges during the year, including skydiving, running a half-marathon, a 227-mile walk and a table tennis marathon at the Cotswold School.

They have so far raised over £4,000 and Bourton Vale's junior cricket co-ordinator Lucy Gillespie, who is helping to organise the Bake Off, said: "Hopefully we will get a lot of people there. We are just hoping to get them over the line."

A number of local companies have donated raffle prizes and Lucy's husband Craig's company CG Kitchens and Carpentry is sponsoring the Bake Off event.
