A Christmas Carol at the 'Cathedral of the Forest'

Where: All Saints Newland, Forest of Dean

When: Wednesday, December 18, 7pm

There's a chance to really get in the festive spirit a week before Christmas when All Saints Newland hosts a production of Charles Dickens' classic tale A Christmas Carol.

The church, known as 'the Cathedral of the Forest' is the lovely venue for the production by This is My Theatre on Wednesday, December 18, at 7pm

On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean-spirited and miserly old man, is visited by the ghost of his business partner Jacob Marley. Shown Christmas' Past, Present and Future he is offered the chance of redemption...but will he take it?

This Christmas, audiences are invited to celebrate the festive season as This is my Theatre brings A Christmas Carol to life in a stunning one-act adaptation.

With traditional carols for all to sing, this will definitely get all of the family in the mood for Christmas. This is not a production to miss!

A spokesman for the Friends of All Saints Newland said: "We're really excited as This is My Theatre perform all round the country in historic places and open spaces but this is their only show in our region."

People can buy tickets direct from This is My Theatre website and all the money raised goes to the maintenance of the fabric of the church and the grounds.

Doors open from 7pm with performance at 7.30pm. Mulled wine and beers, hot chocolate and warm berry cordials will be available to purchase on arrival and during a short interval.

The next couple of months are a busy time for All Saints, with a Remembrance Day service on Sunday, November 10, at 6pm.

The annual Beer and Carols service is on Sunday, December 8, at 5pm, and All Saints will host a midnight mass on Christmas Eve at 11.30pm.
