VIDEO Punchline Talks - Friday Briefing, July 23

Each Friday, Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen is joined by leading Gloucestershire business figures from a range of backgrounds to review Fridays national & regional newspapers, discuss what is happening in their own business sector and in their own individual businesses.

Finally, they round off by picking the stories that have caught their eye in this week's Punchline-Gloucester.com

Taking their places on the business briefing panel this week were:

• Tim Watkins, managing director at Randall & Payne.

• Chris Pockett, head of communications at Renishaw.

• Sam Holliday, development manager for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Gloucestershire and West of England.

• Lance Bradley, CEO of Gloucester Rugby.

It is a lively informative chat with the panel working their way through the national papers before getting behind the nitty gritty of their own businesses and market place.

From Sam and Mark being 'PINGED' as part of the pingdemic - all had interesting sides of their businesses to tell:

Lance gave an update on the clubs new training facilities, hinted at a new shirt sponsorship deal and told how the club has had a bit of a lick of paint during the lockdown.

Sam gave us an update on the shortages that many businesses are experiencing but still positive noises from the Gloucestershire SME's and he explained and asked that businesses get behind the FSB's campaign #myhiddengems.

Chris also hinted at a possible 'exclusive' story but only after the Olympics was over and that Renishaw is riding high, with a full order book and staff levels back up to around the 2,300 level with 50 new apprentices also taken on board this year.

And finally Tim explained the the firm has seen a sharp rise in the number of people looking into selling their businesses and gave his top tip what to ask yourself before you do!! The firm is busy as ever but many are still not back in the office but Tim explained that more and more business want to meet face to face. They have had enough of zoom.

The panel fire through lots of subjects, with news and views and there is something to learn for everyone who is interested in business from the people who are at the sharp end of running their companies.

It is fun informative business news - something for everyone who is generally interested in business.
