The B!G Interview with Robert Miles, CEO of Immersa

Robert Miles has helped turn Dursley-based renewable energy company into one of the Sunday Times list of Britain's Fastest Growing Private Companies.

Brought up in Dursley, Robert worked in various roles, including as a journalist on the local newspaper and as a lawyer in Spain before he was head-hunted by Centrica.

After spending many years working in the energy sector, he helped set up Immersa in 2016.

Immersa helps UK businesses to become sustainable and energy independent through an innovative approach to consultancy and implementation of renewable solutions.

The company has grown to a £10 million business, employing around 40 people. Its sister company Alpha ESS UK, which provides battery energy storage solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications, has a turnover of around £15 million.

Watch Robert talk about his varied career and how he visited a number of manufacturers in China in 2018 before starting Alpha as their exclusive distributor in the UK, which is now a joint venture with the Chinese.

Concentrating Immersa initially in the Gloucestershire area, Robert's intention is to grow the company even more across the UK.

"It's an exciting future," he says. "In 10 years' time I would like Immersa to be a household name, a legacy business which employs 500 to 1,000 people."

The B!G Interviews coming up include:

  • Boris Worrall, CEO of Rooftop Housing
  • John Trolan, CEO of The Nelson Trust
  • Simon Wright of No1 the Cotswolds Café/antique centre
  • Ori Hellerstein, CEO and founder of The Artisan Baker
