Mike Warner has enjoyed a long and successful career as a businessman in Gloucestershire, primarily in the motor trade.

He started his career in the 1970s running a petrol station on the A38 in Tewkesbury, moving into car repairs and car sales which was the start of a long business journey running various franchises around Gloucestershire.

Mike describes the car business in those days as "like the Wild West" but it became more sophisticated as they had to adapt to changes with the Germans and Japanese moving in.

During the 1980s, he ran seven garages which employed about 200 people.

Mike's son Guy Warner now runs his own successful food business using local suppliers and Mike has become involved in the food retailing business which he is passionate about.

Another passion is rugby and during the 1990s Mike joined Gloucester Rugby's business committee as the board moved to take the club professional.

Mike is now semi-retired and he says when Covid came around he reassessed where he was.
