Each Friday, Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen is joined by leading Gloucestershire business figures from a range of backgrounds to review Fridays national & regional newspapers, discuss what is happening in their own business sector and in their own individual businesses. Finally, they round off by picking the stories that have caught their eye in this week's Punchline-Gloucester.com.

The Business Breakfast Briefer show is sponsored by Hazlewoods Accountants and Business Advisors.

This week's panel of experts were:

Roger Head - chairman of the board of the Pied Piper Appeal, owner of Higham Court and its fabulous famous gardens, he's a successful entrepreneur and co-owner of several business parks and trading estates in Gloucestershire. Including Longhope Business Park - increasing it to be over 100,000 sq ft of mix use businesses. He explains how its never been harder to be in business, the situation on the ground in the parks. He doesn't pull any punches and don't get him started on HS2.

Pennie McKenzie - co-owner and founder of BoHo Collective - the cafe and bakery have been described as: Original, alternative, experimental, unconventional - Bohemian. They have been based at the Barn is Kings Stanley since 2016 but now due to an excessive rent rise of 126% they are on the move to Chalford in September. The business employees 25 staff, many of them young people. She tells us all about the business, the move and cost of doing business in the hospitality trade.

Sam Holliday - ex-editor of the Bath Chronicle newspaper but for the past ten years has been the business development manager for the FSB - representing over 6,000 SME's throughout Gloucestershire, Bristol and the South West of England. Sam has a great feel of the economic pulse of business.

Chun Kong - Co-owner of the Mayflower restaurant that has been serving great Chinese food and the community for over 40 years - Chun is finally calling it a day. We find out why - or do we....

The BoE latest interest rate rises (04.08.23) got the biggest response from the panel, other topics include Trump, the disappearing children's play parks, money spent HS2, a collection of 400 irons worth £10,000 - all these were enough to get the panel all steamed up and hot under the collar.
