E141 Punchline Talks! with Dr Polly Pick, Emily Gibbon, Matt Cass and Nick Broady

Back after a short break - this is the first show of 2024 and they hit the ground running.

Each Friday, Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen is joined by leading Gloucestershire business figures from a range of backgrounds to review Friday's national and regional newspapers and discuss what is happening in their own business sector and their own individual businesses.

Finally, they round off by picking the stories that have caught their eye in this week's Punchline-Gloucester.com.

The Business Breakfast Briefer show is sponsored by Hazlewoods Accountants and Business Advisors.

This week's panel of experts were:

Dr Polly Pick - director of Business Engagement & Partnership at University of Gloucestershire - we find out how the regeneration of the cities old Debenhams is going, tuning it into a new University City Centre Campus. We also find out about the Uni's new apprenticeship training course for the hospitality sector launched in London with many of the cities biggest and most prestigious hotel groups

Matt Cass - director of Cass Stephens Insurance and Park Sure - Park Sure specialises in providing residential park homes, static caravans and holiday lodge insurance - the company has had a bumper few years as people have holidayed more in the UK since covid. We also hear from Matt about building on flood plains and how this affects the insurance of a property.

Emily Gibbon - business manager of the Gloucester BID. We hear about the role of the BID and area it covers. 2024 is set to be a BIG year for the cities events team, including the Tall Ships Festival and Retro event and we get the low down of what, where and when the events are taking place.

Nick Broady - managing director of Avenue Cars, chairman of the Pied Piper Appeal and newly appointed chairman of Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation. We get the insight in the car, van and EV market place - with the price of second hand cars falling, major dealers are finding themselves in financial trouble and it looks like 2024 could be a challenging year for many. We also find out more about Nicks new role at Gloucester Rugby.
