E152 Punchline Talks! with Matthew Burgess, Daniel O'Neill, Deborah Flint and Louise Neal

Each Friday, Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen is joined by leading Gloucestershire business figures from a range of backgrounds to review Friday's national and regional newspapers and discuss what is happening in their own business sector and their own individual businesses.

Finally, they round off by picking the stories that have caught their eye in this week's Punchline-Gloucester.com.

The Business Breakfast Briefer show is sponsored by Hazlewoods Accountants and Business Advisors.

This week's panel of experts were:

Daniel O'Neill - Co-founder of ProCook - the company has 60 stores and 700 staff, with a turnover of £62.6million.

Last year, Daniel stepped down from the day to day running of the business but it has recently reported its latest trading figures. Daniel explains what's happening to online trading to traditional retailing and how this has grown over online since lockdown.

Also, the company has launched a range of small electrical products that are proving to be popular. How do you go about doing that in a crowded market place?

Matthew Burgess - Principal and CEO of Gloucestershire College - responsible for over 1,000 staff, 15,000 students across three sites (Gloucester, Cheltenham and Cinderford) with a turnover of over £40million.

The college is building a new construction centre at the back of the Cheltenham campus to help train the builders, elections and plumbers of tomorrow - so we find out about that and its cyber courses and other news.

Deborah Flint - MD - founder and joint owner - Cinderhill Farm, St. Bravels in the Forest of Dean. Here Deborah and her team of 16 make over a staggering half a million sausage rolls by hand each year. She explains how they do it and why and why apprentices are so important to the future of the business.

Louise Neal - CEO - Linc Charity, the charity is supporting blood cancer patients across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Worcestershire - Louise explains about the work they do and the difference it is making to the patients but also their families. Plus there's a Horse Polo Charity event to promote - Friday, May 31.

Today was jam packed as always. Also in the mix today and just a snap shot of what was covered: Whatsapp lowering the age of consent to 13, look after the Lego in your loft as some one might want to steal it, top quotes to bald men, payments to farmers in flooded fields, feeding wild boar pig products, working until we are 72?
