Your vote will decide the country's future - PLEASE don't waste it - NEW COMMENT

In just a few hours the voters will decide the outcome of one of the most important General Elections this country has seen in modern times.

The endless sound bites, political dog fights and promises that can't possibly be fulfilled will all be over as we heave a collective sigh of relief.

In many ways it has been a General Election like no other.

It began with a predicted Tory landslide and ended with Labour dramatically narrowing the gap (if the polls are to be believed).

U-turns, interview gaffs and politicians desperately grasping at straws to try to win votes have unfortunately been a major feature of this Election.

But for businesses it is a vital vote. Which party will help entrepreneurs to thrive, remove the stranglehold of official red tape and ensure we get the best deal under Brexit to maintain and build our vital trade links with Europe and the rest of the world?

Terrorism has cast a dark shadow over the 2017 General Election. As a country we are struggling to come to terms with those whose evil intent has tragically cost so many lives in Manchester and London.

But what tomorrow's General Election must demonstrate above all is that democracy and the decent, law-abiding way of life the majority of us cherish must prevail.

Which is why it is so important that tomorrow everyone exercises their right to vote, whichever political party they choose to support.

In these difficult times democracy must always be the winner.

Mike Lawrence:

I will use my vote as I have done every year since I was old enough, except that is when the local MP was Mr Speaker and I was not able to vote for the party of my choice. I say to the sitting member now, if they get re-elected, you will get my vote DON'T WASTE IT. An instruction, NOT a request.
