New affordable homes in Forest of Dean

In Newnham, Wyedean Housing Association, a registered provider partner of the Forest of Dean District Council, has taken handover of the first six affordable homes at the Severnbank mixed residential development.

This allows potential house buyers to finance a home through a shared ownership scheme if they cannot afford all of the deposit and mortgage payments. The scheme allows homeowners to get on the property ladder and buy a share of a house and pay rent to a landlord on the rest.

Cllr Adrian Birch, cabinet member for housing said: "We are delighted to see the delivery of these much-needed affordable homes in Newnham.

"This development is a significant step towards addressing the housing needs of our community and providing opportunities for individuals and families to access affordable homes.

"I'd recommend that anyone who is interested in shared ownership of these properties visit the TwoCan Estate Agent's website."

The six homes consist of two properties available for affordable rent and four shared ownership properties, providing an opportunity for families to take their first steps onto the housing ladder. A further six affordable homes are expected to be delivered by summer 2023, expanding the availability of affordable housing options in Newnham.
