Women in aviation to be celebrated in special museum exhibition

A celebration of the achievements made by women in aviation and the armed forces will be the focus of a new exhibition at the Jet Age Museum.
The Women in Aviation exhibition starts on Saturday, May 4 and will run throughout the month at the Staverton-based institution.
The exhibition will highlight a range of impressive achievements made by women in the industry and look to encourage young women to consider a career in aviation.
It features the achievements of a Gloucestershire woman who made a record-breaking and terrifying solo flight in the 1930s.
The 'wonderful Amy Johnson' exhibit focuses on the efforts of the woman from Stoke Orchard who flew solo from the UK to Australia in the 1930s.
There is also an 18foot timeline of significant aviation events involving women plus a static exhibition of female achievements in the armed forces and civilian live.
The museum have also secured a number of notable speakers, including RAF Commodores Dawn McCafferty CBE and Barbara Cooper CBE.
The Innsworth Military Wives Choir will be performing in the museum on Saturday, May 18.
The Women in Aviation Museum will be opened by The Mayor of Tewkesbury, the Worshipful Ruth Hatton, on Saturday.
The exhibition will run from May 4 through to May 26 and will be open from 10am until 4pm daily.
