£11m investment coming down the pipeline for Stroud

When your multi-million investment in a community could easily be misconstrued as something of a nuisance it is probably best to keep on the right side of residents.

Experienced hands at not only multi-million infrastructure investments, but also public consultations, water company Severn Trent is revealing a series of community drop-in sessions.

The business is about to reveal the detail for new water pipes in Stroud district which are part of a scheme to "improve the water supply for customers" and 'strengthen' its Gloucester network to the reservoir at Minchinhampton Common.

Its next phase of the project will see a new water pipe being installed, crossing Horsemarling Lane and Oxlynch Lane. Work on Horsemarling Lane is scheduled to start on Monday, March 4, lasting until Friday, March 15.

Engineers will then move on to Oxlynch Lane, beginning on Monday, March 18, until Friday, March 29.

Temporary road closures will be put in place on both roads, between 9am and 4pm.

Gareth Mead from Severn Trent, said: "To ensure residents in Stroud have a reliable water supply for many years to come, we are installing 10 miles of new water pipes across the town.

"Before we carry out this vital work, which will bolster our network across Gloucester to the reservoir at Minchinhampton Common, we will need to put in place temporary road closures, in order to keep our teams, pedestrians and road users safe.

"We understand the disruption this will cause, which is why we are hosting a drop-in session on Tuesday, February 12, at Standish Village Hall, between 4.30pm and 7pm, so we can update residents, show them our plans and answer any questions they may have."

The team from Severn Trent will be at Standish Village Hall, Standish Lane, Standish, Stonehouse on Tuesday, February 12, between 4.30pm and 7pm.

This project forms part of Severn Trent's commitment to investing in its infrastructure which will see what it says is the equivalent of £1,400 invested for every home it serves between 2015 and 2020.
