VIDEOS: Sampling the fayre at The Brewery Quarter

Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen has been given a taste of the fantastic fayre on offer at Cheltenham's Brewery Quarter during its Eat.Drink.Discover Week.

Accompanied by Demelsa Coleman, the Brewery Quarter's marketing manager, Mark visited three venues to enjoy a starter, main course and drink.

Demelsa said: "What's great about Eat.Drink.Discover Week is we're shining a spotlight on all of our fantastic venues. Lots of them have got bespoke offers and special events on.

First up was starters at The Alchemist which is offering a special set menu for the week with two courses for £20 or three for £30.

Mark tried their buttermilk fried chicken with spicy mayo (which proved a slight challenge for his delicate palette) while Demelsa sampled cauliflower bites with tempura batter and a spicy glaze. They also enjoyed the halloumi sticks with chilli jam.

For the main course, they visited Vietnamese restaurant Pho, where Demelsa had a classic curry (one of her favourites) and Mark sampled the rice bowl with charcoal grilled pork with a fried egg on top.

Pho is offering a special menu all this week where you can get a main meal, side and drink for just £15.

To wash their food down, Mark and Demelsa finished their whistle stop tour of the Brewery with a drink at Soho Coffee. Demelsa tried a blueberry muffin matcha which is being offered at a special price of just £2 this week, as is their pumpkin latte. She declared her drink "lovely".

Many of the venues at the Brewery Quarter are entering into the spirit of Eat.Drink.Discover Week.

The Flight Club has something on every night, and they're running a bullseye challenge with special prizes.

"They've also got their 10-year birthday coming up on Friday so there's going to be an amazing party on Friday night," added Demelsa.

It's not just the eateries that are getting involved - Cineworld have a 4DX festival at the moment with seats on offer for just £5.99 for the whole experience.

The day's entertainment culminates in a silent disco from 7-9pm — the perfect way to round off a week of discovery.

Demelsa added: "It has been a challenging year for us but in the last quarter we've seen some growth year-on-year with footfall up about 5% this quarter.

"Wingstop is a brilliant addition to the Brewery Quarter. They are especially popular with the youngsters."
