VIDEO: Gloucestershire Pickleball League Week 5

There was another fantastic session of pickleball this week at Oxstalls Gloucester with all three leagues seeing another evening of hard-fought battles, close results and even a few upsets.

The league, which is sponsored by Punchline-Gloucester.com, has passed its halfway mark and runs for nine weeks until November 5.

Starting with Division 3 where every team is massively improving week on week, Dink Panthers started well and only grew in strength as the evening went, immediately recovering from relegation last week to top the group.

Chalford Robins secured a confidence-building second place, while Pickleball Pirates and Cotswolds Picklers battled hard for third place. The former secured their highest number of wins so far, only being separated from Cotswold Picklers by a lower score points difference.

It was a four-way competition for both the promotion honours and avoiding relegation this week in Division 2, with no team clear favourites for either.

In one of the closest groups to date in the competition, Bristol Pickleball were able to pip Gloster Bombers Red to the post in a decisive 3-1 clash at the end of the evening. Swindon and Barbarians both gave valiant efforts but it was Barbarians that will be playing next week in Division 3.

Gloucestershire Pickleball League is sponsored by Punchline-Gloucester.com.

Capping things off in Division 1, audience members were treated to a thrilling display of highly competitive and skilled performances from all four teams.

Gen P showed intent, taking not just their first, but two wins against PB4C. Gloster Bombers Blue earned the right to play their first successive weeks in Division 1, seeing off Salty Picklers as they fell out of the top Division for the first time, leaving Gen P as the only team to play in the top division from the start.
