Three and a half years after it closed its Gloucester store, Toys R Us is making a return to the UK.
The retailer went into administration and closed all its stores in 2018.
Now Australian-based Toys R Us ANZ has signed an exclusive licence agreement to run physical and digital Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores in the UK.
Dr Louis Mittoni, CEO of Toys R Us ANZ, said: "Since Toys R Us' return to Australia in June 2019, we have scaled quickly as customers return to the much-loved brand and our ecommerce model has proven its success.
"My team and I are looking forward to developing technical and commercial relationships with UK-based vendors and partners and to engage with the many loyal Toys R Us former customers and fans in the UK."
Toys R Us has over 900 stores and ecommerce sites across 25 countries worldwide.
Punchline said: "While Gloucester shoppers now have Smyths on Eastern Avenue, the Toys R Us store at the Peel Centre was much loved by generations of kids and parents. It was one of the few reasons Cheltonians would head to Gloucester to shop!"
