Tewkesbury firm in £15 million takeover deal

A company which has subsidiaries in Tewkesbury has been taken over in a £15 million deal.

Facilities management and professional services company, Mitie, has acquired DAEL Ventures UK, together with its subsidiaries DAEL Telecom, JB Towers (both based in Tewkesbury) and JISTICS, in a move that will boost Mitie's telecoms capability.

Mitie has a facility in Gloucester.

DAEL Ventures is the UK arm of DAEL Netherlands, a provider of acquisition, design and construction services for telecoms infrastructure. With a UK team of around 130, DAEL Ventures provides efficient and affordable telecoms solutions for multiple customers, building, upgrading, optimising, and maintaining cell sites throughout the UK.

The business also provides specialist managed services of temporary mobile infrastructure to support the special events market. DAEL Ventures UK has a reputation for design capability and innovative solutions for building sites in remote and complex locations, such as the highlands and islands of Scotland and remote locations of England and Wales.

Mitie already provides maintenance and engineering services for 20,000 telecoms assets across the UK and Ireland.

The partnership between DAEL and Mitie will provide an end-to-end service for the industry, from mast design though to decommissioning. This is increasingly important as the UK gears up to establish a full 5G network over the next three to five years, which requires upgrading the existing mast network.

Andy Train, managing director of DAEL Telecom, and James Brennan, managing director of JB Towers, will join Mitie's Technical Services business to create a new Mitie Telecoms division.

Carlo Alloni, managing director of Technical Services and Integrated Facilities Management at Mitie, said: "With the acquisition of DAEL Ventures UK, we are broadening and deepening our telecoms offering, which will benefit both our customers and the UK and Ireland's wider mobile network as we support the rollout of 5G. I look forward to welcoming the DAEL team to Mitie."
