Stretch of A40 to close for resurfacing work
By David Wood | 21st October 2024
Parts of a major Gloucestershire road will be closed for resurfacing work next month.
Work is being carried out on the westbound A40 between Cheltenham and Gloucester between Friday, November 1, and Tuesday, November 19.

Closures
A40 westbound between M5 junction 11 and the Elmbridge Court roundabout - November 1 to November 4: The A40 westbound will be closed from Friday, November 1, 8pm to Monday, November 4, 6am.
A40 westbound between Arle Court and Elmbridge Court roundabouts - November 4 to November 19: The A40 westbound will be closed weeknights (8pm to 6am) from Monday 4 to Tuesday 19 November.
Gloucestershire County Council will use closures to work on its section of the A40. This will reduce the need for further closures in future.

Diversions
The diversion will follow the B4063.
Larger vehicles, please use the A4013, A4019, A38 and A40.
Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.
The M5 will be open as usual. You will still be able to join the motorway at junction 11 from the A40 eastbound (coming from the Gloucester direction).
During weeknight closures, if you leave the M5 you'll only be able to join the A40 eastbound (towards Cheltenham). Please follow diversions for any other journeys.
Please remember that closures can change at short notice.
