Stores saved by Gloucestershire cookware specialists will still have to close

ProCook have announced that six of the Steamer Trading shops it acquired in January will be closing, according to reports.

The Gloucester-based cookware specialists bought Steamer Trading out of administration earlier this year, saving 27 shops from immediate closure and saving in excess of 300 jobs.

Negotiations over longer-term leases are close to being completed to save the 21 other recently-acquired stores, with ProCook committed to extending and improving the product range.

However, those negotiations proved too problematic at six of the sites and the stores in Guldford, Brentwood, Cardiff, Hereford, Stamford and Witney will be closing.

The company, who have their headquarters at Gateway 12 Business Park near Gloucester, will look to offer vacancies to staff in other stores in its network to those affected by the closures.

ProCook have 37 stores across the country.
