Safran unveils range of high-power electrical harnesses

Safran Electrical & Power has announced the launch of GENeUSCONNECT, a line of high-power electrical harnesses, which completes its range of electrical systems dedicated to the new generations of all-electric and hybrid aircraft.

These harnesses will be qualified for voltages of up to 800 volts DC, and designed to withstand partial discharge phenomena at altitude.

Equivalent in size to the wiring produced today for traditional aircraft, they will withstand power levels twice as high. Thanks to new processes and adapted insulating materials, these harnesses enable the needs of new all-electric and hybrid propulsion systems to be met, particularly in harsh environments characterised by high temperatures, severe vibration conditions and strong integration constraints.

GENeUSCONNECT is a technology offering accompanied by a range of services. It covers the entire electrical harness: connectors, cables, components, and passive protection against electric arcs and electromagnetic radiation.

Furthermore, Safran's service offering covers the entire wiring life cycle: design, prototyping, integration into the aircraft structure, qualification required for certification, series production and in-service support.

Serge Pons, executive vice president & general manager of Safran Electrical & Power's Interconnection Systems Eurasia division, said: "With many years of investment in researching and developing high-power technologies, Safran has become a leading player in this field.

"Our line of high-power harnesses is based on three fundamental pillars: ensuring the safety and protection of people and systems; guaranteeing the reliability of the equipment throughout its entire service life; and optimising the integration of wiring into the aircraft.

"We offer aircraft manufacturers technologies that are perfectly suited to the needs of their future 100% electric and hybrid platforms."

GENeUSCONNECT completes the range of electrical systems developed by Safran Electrical & Power for new platforms of air mobility: ENGINeUS electric motor, GENeUS motor/generator, GENeUSGRID electrical distribution and GENeUSPACK battery.
