Safeguarding family and friends against domestic abuse
By Sarah Wood | 13th September 2019
At the Gloucestershire Police Open Day tomorrow (14th September), experts will be holding a session on safeguarding family and friends from domestic abuse.
Domestic abuse comes in many forms and is a complex crime that victims are often reluctant to talk about and report.
During the constabulary's free talk, Helen Pritchard, the county's domestic violence and sexual violence co-ordinator, and Heather Downer from the Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS) will deliver a fascinating presentation about the many ways you can safeguard your family and friends.
• How can you help a friend or family member that you suspect is being abused?
• Who can you talk to if you are being abused?
• What steps can you take to protect yourself from an abuser?
These answers and more will be covered during the session and there will also be the opportunity to ask questions.
The sessions are suitable for age 16+.
Although the sessions are free, you will need to book in advance here https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/open-day-talk-safeguarding-your-family-and-friends-tickets-71050139881
