Road will be closed for resurfacing

Motorists are set to face delays while repair work is carried out on a railway bridge.

Gloucestershire County Council said the improvements to road surface on the A429 Stratford Road bridge in Moreton-in-Marsh would ensure it was fit for purpose.

The work has been planned for 29-31 March to make sure this popular route is in good condition ahead of the busy summer season.

A 200-metre section of road from the junction of Batsford Road to the junction with Todenham Road will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm while the work is carried out.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: "These repair works are an example of the county council's commitment to making improvements that keep roads safe, as well as benefitting the local economy."

Cllr Lynden Stowe, county councillor for Campden-Vale, said: "The A429 is a major route linking Moreton-in-Marsh with Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water to the south and Warwickshire to the north.

"It's vitally important that this work is complete ahead of summer to help local businesses make the most of the upcoming tourist season."
