WARNING: Could more Gloucestershire jobs be at risk?

A hard Brexit will lead to Safran "repatriating operations" back to France, according to a report.

The story that ran in The Guardian on Tuesday showcased the impact of Britain leaving the EU will have to the aerospace sector.

Safran are one of Gloucestershire's biggest employers with around 1,000 workers on site at its specialist landing gear operation at Staverton.

Punchline-Gloucester.com has seen an internal press summary released by the company to employees that draws attention to the story.

The Safran press summary said: "Safran, which manufactures engines and seats on British soil says it will, in the event of a no-deal, repatriate operations that do not require heavy investments such as its maintenance operation."

The internal document states: "The summaries published in this document reflect articles published in the press, and main contain errors or incorrect information, or report rumours.

"They are provided for information purposes only, to represent subjects covered in the press and are thus in no way to be considered as guaranteed by Safran."

They did, however leave out a second chunk of The Guardian story which contained further claims about the impact Brexit would have on the company.

The Guardian story added: "The company has said any move by the UK away from EU regulations is a 'key risk' which would make it 'very difficult' for the UK and EU aerospace industries to work together.

Punchline-Gloucester.com has contact Safran to ask for comment.

Punchline says this is yet another worrying story following yesterday's news of the closure of Honda in Swindon and possible knock-on to G-Tekt in Brockworth .

Here we have another warning story, the business community needs clarity and certainty on Brexit as soon as possible.
