Independent housebuilder achieves £50million turnover

Newland Homes has announced record figures for the last financial year.

The Gloucester-based housebuilder achieved a turnover of £50million, with profits before tax of £6.5million.

With 2016 also being their 25th year of business, the company is bucking the trend reported recently in the national media that small housebuilders were being stifled by planning red tape.

Recent permissions in Gloucestershire include the canal-side Wallbridge development in Stroud of 37 homes, a second development in Hempsted that will provide 43 homes next to the award-winning Newark Barns site and a unique valley-side site at Nailsworth of 17 homes.

The company has also recently received permission for the redevelopment of Pilgrove Way, Cheltenham, where the former Springbank shops will become 34 one, two, three and four-bedroom homes.

Last year, Newland Homes had 13 live sites across the South West and completed the sale of 186 plots - 110 of these on the open market and 76 were affordable homes.

This includes the site of Cotswold Edge in Mickleton, where there is a mix of .detached houses and bungalows from which to choose.

Construction has also started on 22 homes at Fleet Lane, Twyning Green, with the first homes expected to be released for sale later this year.

Newland Homes managing director David Foreman (pictured) said: "2016 was, thanks to all our efforts, a fantastic year for sales, land purchases, planning permissions and construction.

"The future is bright and, subject to no major issues around Brexit, we are confident that our well-established, long serving, loyal team, combined with our very welcome and much needed new recruits, will see us continue to build our brand and reputation.

"This year has already got off to a flying start and we plan to continuing building and growing on the success we have already achieved in our 25th year.

"With exciting developments across the region, including Whitebridge Gardens in Thornbury, Broad Blunsdon Heights in Swindon, Oakfield Road in Frome and Cotswold Edge in Mickleton, we have properties to suit all types of homebuyer.

"We're also planning for success in 2018, with the forthcoming start of further developments in Bideford, Stroud and Hempsted, as well as expanding into new areas including Chipping Sodbury, Twyning, Evesham, Barnstaple, and Cheltenham."
