Record performance for tile retailer

Topps Tiles had a record performance in the first half of the financial year and has described itself as the UK's "clear market leader" in home and DIY.

The retailer, which has stores in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stroud, recorded sales of £130.5m in the 26 weeks to April 1 - up 9.5% on the same period in 2022.

Online sales hit £10.1m, up from just £1.1m a year ago.

Topps attributed much of the growth to its acquisition of Pro Tiler Tools and the launch of Tile Warehouse in 2022.

It expects profits to rise in the second half of the year, as supply chain pressures ease and cost price rises are reduced.
